Monastery Bench - II

She’s long, low, and meant to be shared. Found in Béziers and dating to the early 20th century, this monastery bench was built with a single, generous plank seat and a matching stretcher running the length below - simple construction, confident proportions.  The surface shows its age in a way that feels earned: small splits in the plank, gentle irregularities in the wood, and a lightness that comes from years of use rather than sanding or refinishing. Sylvie loves it pulled up to a long table, placed along a wall, or used as extra seating where people naturally gather.  Identical in design to the Monastery Bench- I, this one has slightly different grain pattern and a repair on the seat. You might need the pair though!
