Le Butter Bell Scalloped

France, 19th Century

$155

Antique Kitchen Must Have Ceramic
The way our jaw dropped when we found these. Terracotta butter bells, once the French kitchen’s best-kept secret for keeping butter cool before fridges were a thing. This one features a hand-etched scalloped pattern on top and is matte to the touch. Sylvie keeps one by the stove, ready for late night toast emergencies. Available in terracotta and white-wash finishes.
