Antique Pedestal Table

France, 19th Century

$495

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Wood

Ooh la la! Found in Montpellier, this 1940s French pedestal table has an oval dish-shaped top hollowed into a shallow tray, raised on two slender columns that meet in a curved sled base at the floor. The dish top was the working detail, the rim catching anything that rolled - a glass, a small bottle, the things that move when a table moves - and the sled foot meant it sat steady on uneven stone or wood. Sylvie sets it beside a chair as a drinks table for a small vase, a glass of water, and the book that's been waiting since last week.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The top of this table has a crack along its grain lines. Its feet have some chipped and cracked wood, as well.
