The music is playing and a couple has started to dance, a hurdy-gurdy player working the crank while a child and a dog look on. It was woven in the 19th century and came out of Montpellier, a large pastoral scene in soft, faded browns and greens. For centuries it hung on the wall of a château, and that long life shows in a few small areas of wear, the honest kind that comes only with real age. A tapestry like this would usually cost far more, and Sylvie has priced it gently because of that wear, which is the only reason a piece with this history comes within reach. Sylvie hangs it large on a wall, where the marks disappear into the scene and the dancing is all you see.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, this piece may show sun-faded color and a few loose threads. It's all part of its age and character, just the way we like it. There are a few tears throughout the textile, as shown in the photographs.
