French Bobbin Stool

France, 20th Century

$255

Vintage One-Of-A-Kind Exactly As Pictured

Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, this mid-century French stool is rare for its original black paint, three bobbin-turned legs and a round seat, the black worn through in places to show the wood beneath. Bobbin-turned stools were a staple of the French country kitchen, set close to the stove or pulled up to a sink to peel and wait, but painted ones almost never come to us this way. Sylvie sets it beside a deep armchair with a book and a cup of coffee on top, the kind of small piece a room arranges itself around.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
