Spanish Side Table

Spain, 19th Century

$595

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Wood

Found in Montpellier but Spanish by origin, this late-19th-century side table has the look of something made at home, its plank top worn smooth and dark from a long working life. It stood against a farmhouse wall and did a little of everything, splayed legs to keep it steady, a drawer for the small things that go missing, and a stretcher the carpenter couldn't resist shaping into soft scallops, one flourish on a table that was otherwise all business. Sylvie sets it by a bed or behind a sofa with a stack of books and a small lamp.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The top shows age-related cracks, varnish drips, water marks, and signs of past refinishing. There is some variation in the finish, and the table has a slight wobble.
