Vintage One-Of-A-Kind Rare

Found in Béziers, this French Louis XIII style stool is the rare one - built with the double-bobbin turning that defines the style, every leg stacked with round beads in a kind of small, rhythmic sculpture, the wide rush seat still intact and tight. The bobbin-turned leg goes back to the early 1600s in France, when the lathe came into its own and turning became a way to give every plain piece of furniture a sense of music. Sylvie sets it beside a bed with a stack of books and a lamp on top, the kind of piece that earns its corner in a room.

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. The rush surface on this stool has some warn markings including a couple of missing strands. The wooden legs show signs of this pieces age with small scrapes and variation in color and varnish, all adding to its history.
