Some tables earn their keep by being useful everywhere. Found in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, this petite French side table stands on turned legs and retains its original painted finish to the base, worn gently from years of daily use. The top was left unpainted, allowing the natural wood grain to show through, along with subtle staining and surface variation from decades of use. Originally intended as an occasional table, it would have sat beside a chair or settee, keeping books, candles, and a glass of wine within easy reach. Sylvie loves it beside a sofa, topped with a lamp and a small stack of well-thumbed books.
