Vintage Glass Pedestal Dish - II

France, 20th Century

$165

Found outside Lyon from a dealer we've worked with for years, this vintage French glass piece came from his father's collection, built up over decades of looking. The pressed glass opens into a wide shallow dish with a scalloped rim, set on a heavy knopped stem over a fluted foot. Stands like it were made to raise fruit or sweets up off the table and into the center of things, a small pedestal for whatever was worth showing. Sylvie piles it with grapes and leaves it out on the table, the kind of piece that looks like nothing until it is full.
