Vintage Glass Pedestal Dish - I

Found outside Lyon from a dealer we've worked with for years, this vintage French glass pedestal dish came from his father's collection, built up over decades of looking. Pressed all over in a fan-and-lattice pattern with a beaded rim and a starburst under the foot, it has the look of cut crystal in pressed glass. Pedestal dishes like this were the standard of a French dessert table, raised up so the cake or the pastries could be seen from across the room. Sylvie keeps it out with a pile of fruit, or sets a few pastries on it for whoever comes down first.
