Antique One-Of-A-Kind Wood

Found in Avignon, this 20th-century French corner cabinet was built to fit into the angle of a country kitchen, with a curved front door that follows the line of the wood from one wall to the other. Corner cabinets, called encoignures in French, have been a staple of rural homes since the 1700s, made to use the awkward space where two walls meet without giving up floor in the room. Sylvie places it in a dining room corner for storing table linens and the good plates.
