Oak Coffee Table

Ooh la la! This is not one you come across often. Found in Carpentras and dating to the early 20th century, this monastery-style table draws from much earlier refectory designs, where pieces were built with weight, permanence, and intention. The thick top sits on heavily turned legs with a solid stretcher base, all carved from substantial timber, giving it that grounded, architectural presence. The scale and proportion are what set it apart—lower and wider than expected, closer to a coffee table but with the structure of something far older. Sylvie loves it centered in a living room, anchored on a large rug with a low stack of books, a vase and nothing else competing with its form. Voila!
