Italian Alps Bench

Italy, 19th Century

$1,495

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Rare

It never sat empty for long. Found in the Italian Alps and dating to the 19th century, this long farm bench is built from dark, well-worn wood with a thick plank seat set on carved trestle ends. The stretcher below is deeply cut, running in a slow, almost lyrical line across the base. Made for daily use, it would have been pulled up to the table or set along a wall, always in rotation. Sylvie keeps it in an entry for boots and baskets, or at the end of a bed with a quilt draped across it.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.

Notes from Sylvie:

Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use. There is a slight side-to-side movement to the frame and a small loss along the front edge, both consistent with age and use, though the piece remains sturdy overall.
