Antique Historic One-Of-A-Kind Jaw Dropper

A relic from the era of French châteaux and grand kitchens. This 17th-century cupboard was found in Avignon but hails from the Gers region, the culinary heartland of France known for its foie gras and fortified farm estates. Built entirely by hand, it’s composed of two separate pieces - a design feature that made these monumental cupboards easier to move within stone manor walls. The carved diamond panels and intricate frieze work along the center reveal the craftsman’s skill and the influence of early Baroque ornamentation. Cupboards of this scale once stored cured meats, linens, or family silver; today, it commands a room with its quiet gravitas and enduring beauty.

This unique cupboard actually is two stacked cupboards. The boards are all hand carved. Has its own original keys. It has wear consistent with its age. As with many antiques, this piece has been repaired it has cracks, scratches, holes, years worth of patina, and stains - just the way we like it.
