Antique Jaw Dropper Hard To Find

A solid oak château kitchen classic, softened by time. Found in Avignon and originally from a château kitchen outside Lyon, this 19th-century French farm table was built for daily use and made to last. The oak has mellowed to a silvery tone from years of work and washing, and the turned legs with their central stretcher still give it a quiet, balanced presence. The breadboard ends were designed to keep the tabletop flat through changes in temperature and use, a hallmark of French joinery from the period. Sylvie likes it with a linen runner and a bottle of wine within reach, simple as that.

Notes from Sylvie:

This very sturdy piece has has its original finish sanded, though finish still shows through in the darker areas. It has one drawer at the end and the table top itself lifts off the legs if needed. As with many antiques, this piece may show gentle repairs, cracks, scratches, holes, years worth of patina, and stains - just the way we like it.
