The hunt has paused at the edge of the woods, the riders holding their horses while the dogs work the undergrowth ahead. It was woven in Belgium in the 20th century, worked in deep greens inside a border of leaves and flowers. Belgium has been the center of European tapestry for five hundred years, and the hunt was one of its oldest subjects, woven for the walls of grand houses where the chase stood for noble life. Sylvie hangs it in a study, where the hunt carries on quietly over the desk.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, this piece may show sun-faded color and a few loose threads. It's all part of its age and character, just the way we like it. There are sewn pockets along the top and bottom on the back for hanging.
