Found in Normandy, this French bobbin stool dates to the 20th century, a round seat on three splayed legs, the wood darkened to a deep chestnut. The bobbin turning is the oldest trick a lathe can do, the wood cut into repeating rounds as it spins, a technique that has run through French furniture for centuries and never gone out of use. Sylvie pulls it up beside a chair for a coffee and a book, or stands a small pot of flowers on it in a corner where nothing else quite fits.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear collector, as with many antiques, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, a bit of movement, cracks, scratches, small holes, and surface variation from years of use.
All items are final sale.
