Found in Chartres, this rare 19th-century French pedestal brings all the grandeur of classical architecture into a single sculptural form. Its fluted column rises to a richly carved Corinthian capital, where scrolling acanthus leaves and floral details support a generous square top. Originally used to display busts, urns, and treasured objects in grand interiors, it remains every bit as striking today. Sylvie loves it topped with a stone bust, an overflowing arrangement of branches, or displayed on its own as a piece of sculpture in the room.
Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
Notes from Sylvie:
Dear Collector, as with many antique pieces, this piece may show signs of its age, including subtle repairs, cracks, scratches, small holes, surface variation, and a bit of natural play in the construction. The wood was previously painted white, and traces of the original paint remain visible within the grain. Age-related cracks are present, and while the piece has a slight wiggle, it remains strong and sturdy.
